David Toms +1566 (WSEX)

for some reason he's at +1000 at thegreek and has been bet down to +1400 at pinnacle.....probably not a winner but worth a shot.

Golf-Memphis fan Toms returns to happy hunting ground
Thu Jun 7, 2007 2:28AM BST

NEW ORLEANS, June 6 (Reuters) - Twice champion David Toms has always loved playing at the St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee, and this week is no different.

"It's been a pretty good place for me throughout my career and I've always felt very comfortable playing this golf course," Toms told reporters at the TPC Southwind on Wednesday.

"I seem to drive the ball pretty well and I have always putted really well here.

"We all try to draw on our past experiences, especially the good ones and try to forget the bad ones," added the 40-year-old American, who has finished no worse than tied for 10th in his last five appearances in Memphis.

"I've always had a lot of good memories of this place. I guess they could reroute the entire place and I'd still feel pretty comfortable."

Tournament champion in 2003 and 2004, Toms came close to completing a hat-trick of titles in 2005 before losing out to fellow American Justin Leonard by a shot.

Last year, he slipped back into a tie for 10th after storming into contention with opening rounds of 69 and 67.

A 12-times winner on the PGA Tour, Toms has not hit top form this season despite making 13 cuts out of 13.

"I've been fairly consistent, but I haven't had that hot week yet where everything fell into place and I had a chance to win," he said.

"I've always done something every round where I had it going to give it back. I haven't been able to keep a hot round going yet.

"The key for me the rest of the year is to capitalise on those weeks where I feel like I'm playing well and just try to put it all together," added Toms, who has not won since the Sony Open in Hawaii 17 months ago.

"But I feel good about it and I'm fairly confident in my golf game right now. My short game feels pretty solid."

The St. Jude Championship, the 24th event on the 2007 PGA Tour, starts on Thursday.

First day round up

Matchups: 2-0

-Scott smoked Dimarco (6 stroke)
-Kuchar won...or is aobut to win....Watson imploded the last two holes...well he's not even finished his last hole...

To win bets:

-Scott is tied for lead at 3 under
-Toms is at par...3 behind

Guess the goal of day 1 is to not 'shoot yourself out of the tourney'...Toms did that...Scott did that and more.

golf futures very tough way to make a buck. I like picking Sat night. Im finding however that golf is easiest sport to beat. Real soft lines, and for a gambling game like golf, seemingly a shortage of golf bettors that are sharp.

yeah i'm could actually profit off both bets by selling them off at wsex (which i'll likely do tomorrow)...but i get what you're saying. it's usually won by someone shooting a great saturday/sunday.

and yeah....golf lines are the softest i've found.

Damn, Scott really missed the last round. Austin 8 under, some dream play from him, great picks but no luck this time.

I do not know so much about golf but maby a surprise winner behind the most overhyped players, Tiger at least seems to be overrated?
